Revision for “Speed” created on April 16, 2015 @ 17:02:18

Speed the measurement of how one object moves in relation to another.

Parallax websites work by having objects moving at different speeds.

You can see things moving fast compared to others, hear the speed of something coming towards you, and feel the speed you're moving if you're on a bike.

Analysis
Informational: When the element is used to portray time, it could be informational. Or, when it is comparing different speeds, it could be just giving out that information. The hands of a clock move at different speeds to indicate time: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHIVeWhCMU8[/embed] Direction:

If speed was used for directions, maybe it could indicate how fast or slow a route would be.

Symbolic: Speed has varying amounts of importance to different populations. Some cultures value speed, while others might value slowing down and enjoy the experience. Performative:

If users are competitive, an indication that others are going faster (towards "the finish line"), might encourage them to speed up.

2 contributors
